Bahria Town established a permanent Dastarkhwan in Tharparker

RO Plants being setup with the capacity of pumping 3,000 gallons of mineral water daily

Bahria Town’s relief efforts have been continuing in Tharparker since the past 7,8 months and now Bahria Town has decided to setup a permanent Dastarkhwan in the area of Tharparker. The local MPA of the area, Dr. Mahesh and the Bahria Town management hosted the launching ceremony. This Dastarkhwan can accommodate up to 150 people at a time and can feed between 2500/3000 people a day. An RO plant is also being setup in the area, which will have the capacity to drill 3,000 gallons of mineral water on a daily basis. These efforts will provide food and water to a population of 60,000 people and bring them out of their lifelong misery of starvation.

Chairman Bahria Town, Mr. Malik RiazHussain announced a comprehensive relief program for the draught stricken people of the area of Tharparker, where more than 100 children died from starvation at the beginning of the year. Relief efforts were promised to continue for over 6 months and a donation of Rs 200 million was made for this purpose.  Malik RiazHussain responded to the situation immediately and within 24 hours the Bahria Town rescue teams reached the site with food, water and medical aid. Bahria Town also donated a sum of Rs 5 lakh to each family of the deceased children. The main base camp was established at Mithi, while sub camps were established in Chachru, Diplo, Islam Kot and Nagarparker.

The Bahria Town medical units, along with doctors, nurses, paramedical staff reached Thar with tons of medicines. Bahria Town medical teams also restructured the Mithi District Hospital’s male ward and made it fully functional and also setup medical labs that conducted free tests for Hepatitis. Education is an essential ingredient for a society to progress, so Bahria Town also adopted the Mithi District School and restructured it. 7 months have passed since Bahria Town launched its rescue operation in Tharparker and even today the Bahria Town rescue teams are working relentlessly to improve the lives of the people of Thar.
