Bahria Town announced Rs. 5 billion for IDPs

Also Requested KPK Govt & Pak-Army to handover the responsibility for the Relief Camps

ISLAMABAD: Bahria Town has announced a package of Rs. 500 Million for the internally displaced people (IDPs) of the military operation Zarb-e-Azb. They have also requested the Pakistan-Army and the provincial government of KPK to hand over the entire responsibility of the IDP camps over to Bahria Town.

Chairman Bahria Town, Malik Riaz Hussain, while talking to the media has offered full support for the IDP’s and has intimated that Bahria Town will take full responsibility of all the basic facilities such as food, healthcare & education of the IDP’s. Mr. Hussain also mentioned that an account has been setup by Bahria Town to manage these funds, with an initial amount of Rs 500 million which will be extended to Rs 5 billion. He spoke of the upcoming month of Ramadan & Eid and expressed his willingness to provide all the additional support during the Holy month as well.  Mr. Hussain quoted “If I am given the chance, everyone will see that I have took care of these IDP’s in the same manner as I take care of my own children”. He also offered other businessmen to join hands with these relief efforts.

Bahria Town is synonymous with all relief efforts during disasters in Pakistan and is always at the forefront whenever the country is undergoing any crisis. Bahria Town is already operating full fledge relief operations in Sindh (Tharparker District) and Baluchistan (Awaran District) and is determined to offer complete assistance in KPK as well. Bahria Dastarkhwan’s are operational in various areas of Thar and Awaraan and are providing 2 free meals a day to thousands of people. Apart from these efforts, several hundred rashan bags have been distributed and even cash. Several hundred water wells and RO plants have also been dug and schools & hospitals have been rehabilitated. Hundreds of Bahria Town mobile hospitals are also functional in the affected areas.
