Bahria Town Donating Rs 1.89 Billion for Development of 2 Underpasses and 1 Flyover in Karachi

Pakistan’s First Private Investment in Infrastructural Development

Bahria Town has become the first private organization to invest in infrastructural development of Pakistan. All Bahria Town communities have the most advanced infrastructure in the country and Bahria Town has always invested on the development of roads leading to and out of Bahria Town communities but this step taken in Karachi is truly a historical one. Rs 1.89 billion are going to be donated to the KMC (Karachi Metropolitan Corporation) for the construction of 1 flyover & 2 underpasses. Chairman Bahria Town; Mr. Malik Riaz Hussain stated “This donation to the Sindh Government is not only to provide ease to the residents of the new Bahria Town projects in Karachi but to all the residents of Karachi who have welcomed Bahria Town into their city with such warmth. Although technically it is the government’s duty to construct roads, bridges, underpasses etc but we have taken up this project as it is a noble cause”

One underpass will be from Kothari Parade over Talwar Chowk and the other one will be between Adullah Shah Ghazi Mazar and Bahria Town Icon. The flyover will be in front of Park Lane Towers. The N.O.C has been obtained from the City District Government and work is in swift progress, the projects are expected to be complete in 4 months. These projects will be financed 100% by Bahria Town, without any government funding and Bahria Town has also paid millions to the City District Government in lieu by government outer develop charges.  These underpasses will built with the latest technology, equipped with electronic monitoring system which is only available in Iconic cities like Dubai. These projects have been designed after a comprehensive study of traffic flow and will contribute immensely to improving traffic flow in Karachi. The Administrator KMC; Rauf Farooqi stated “such a heavy donation is unprecedented in Pakistan’s history from any private organization”.
