REINVENT BLOODLESS DIALYSIS Collaboration for Advanced Research on Peritoneal Dialysis between Bahria International Hospital & Byonyks (USA)

Saturday, August 01, 2026

Bahria Town International Hospital achieves another milestone by officially announcing its research and clinical service collaboration with Byonyks International USA. Byonyks is a global leader in home dialysis service development and remains a member of the select few entities that have a USA FDA approved cycler. Both parties have already worked on numerous projects in the past which have resulted in improving renal healthcare in Pakistan and numerous publications in high impact factor journals. It is due such collaborations that the International Society of Peritoneal Dialysis (ISPD) for the first time in its history awarded the prestigious John Maher Award to a Pakistani i.e. our Medical Director and Chief of Nephrology Professor Ahad Qayyum. Bahria Town International Hospital still hosts the largest Peritoneal Dialysis Unit in Pakistan and is a recognized international training centre by the ISPD.

The memorandum of understanding was signed on the 1st of August 2026 at the Bahria Town International Hospital where Professor Ahad Qayyum (Medical Director) & Dr. Shazia Asim (Vice President Bahria International Hospitals) were pleased to host Professor Andrew King the Chief Medical Officer visiting from the USA along with Mr. Farrukh Usman CEO, Mr. Hassan Ibrar and Professor Nauman Tarif. Dr. King is considered a leading authority on home therapies and peritoneal dialysis on a global scale.

Through the formalisation of this global collaboration both parties look forward to increasing peritoneal dialysis utilisation to help ease the suffering of our Pakistani dialysis population and promoting cutting edge research in the country. Together we look forward to promoting therapies which are more safe, effective, cheap and environmentally friendly.
