Islamabad: Bahria Town (Private) Limited achieved yet another milestone with the signing of an agreement with Shanghai Electric Power Transmission & Distribution Engineering Co. Ltd. (SPTD) on a pleasant Friday afternoon in a graceful ceremony. The officials from Bahria Town and Shanghai Electric graced the event with their presence along with the respectable members of society and media personnel.
Set to complete in next 20 months, this project will enable Shanghai Electric Power Transmission & Distribution Engineering Co. Ltd. to engineer, procure and construct 220KV Double Circuit Quad Bundle Transmission Line, which upon completion, connect the state-of-the-art 220KV Grid Station located at Bahria Town Karachi with National Grid. Total length of Transmission Line route will be approx. 12.75km and will link the existing K-Electric Transmission Line 220KV Pipri-KDA at M-9 to 220KV GIS Grid Station Bahria Town Karachi. The project will be constructed as per K-Electric’s latest specifications on 220KV monopole, which were used by K-Electric for the first time in Pakistan.
Shanghai Electric Power Transmission and Distribution Engineering Co Ltd. (SPTD) is a state-owned professional international engineering company which has been listed in the top 225 International Contractors for years by ENR, USA. Besides completing thousands of diversified projects, the company has previously completed major transmission projects for Ministry of Kuwait, Ethiopia, Sri Lanka and Djibouti.
A mega power project through which electric power of 350MW will be transmitted to meet the demand of Bahria Town Karachi which is Asia’s biggest and most sophisticated housing society and is one of a kind project undertaken by any private housing society in Pakistan.
The 220KV grid station at Bahria Town Karachi was constructed by Bahria Town in a short span of 3 years and supplied with modern technology and machinery imported from Germany, France, Italy, Switzerland and South Korea.
With this accomplishment, Bahria Town will now be able to supply electricity to its residents in Bahria Town Karachi as per the K-Electric’s electricity distribution system.
