Bahria Town presents Rs 50 million cheque to Edhi

KARACHI: A cheque of Rs 50 million was presented to philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi on behalf of Bahria Town on Friday. The cheque was presented by Bahria Town Director,Zain Malik.

Talking to the media, Edhi thanked Bahria Town for assisting his foundation, which will help the social welfare organization to continue its mission to serve humanity. He also said that he is happy that where there are robbers, there are God fearing people in this country as well who vow to help in times of need. “This has reignited my spirits to work for welfare.” He added.

Zain Malik, Vice Chief Executive Bahria Town said that the reason behind compensating the loss of Edhi Foundation was to support the cause of human welfare that has been the principal agenda of Bahria Town. “We were deeply grieved on the mishap with EdhiSahab and the sorrow that he has encountered. We have assured EdhiSahab that we are all standing with him at this moment and beyond. Whenever he needs our help for any welfare cause such as marriages of girls etc. he can always count us in to contribute in his causes.”
On Sunday, world-renowned social worker Abdul Satta rEdhi was held at gun point and deprived of cash and gold ornaments estimated to be worth millions of rupees.Ten armed men entered the Edhi office and made offwith Rs 10 million in cash as well as 5 kilograms of gold.
