Honorable Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani Inaugurates Bahria Town Modern Village in Kot Addu

The Honorable Prime Minister allotted free homes to the flood victims on Sunday, 4th of March 2010.

The Honorable Prime Minister allotted free homes to the flood victims on Sunday, 4th of March 2010. He said that Modern Village is a major contribution towards helping the underprivileged and this welfare initiative will prove to be fundamental in the modernization of Pakistan. The inauguration was attended by Chairman Bahria Town, Malik Riaz Hussein, and a number of dignitaries and ambassadors.

Bahria Town Modern Village is Pakistan’s first comprehensive welfare project providing free homes for the poor 2010 flood affectees. The first model village consists of 143 houses. These homes are 6 marla vicinities with 2 bedrooms, a veranda, kitchen, washroom and a walled courtyard. The bricked constructions are duly plastered with prefabricated roofs and have hand pumps for water, electric and sewerage connections. A 9ft boundary provides a secure territorial boundary for the village, protecting it from both, vice and natural calamity. TMA Kot Addu has approved the town plan on full payment and has categorized it as a private colony. The manner by which these homes have been constructed has formed a fusion of low cost-living and maintained quality. In addition to that, they have been designed to replicate the “typical village lifestyle”.

Modern Village Community Features:

       Boys and Girls Primary Institution
8 Bed Pediatric clinic and Dispensary
       Community Mosque
       Central Park ( Dera)
       Commercial Areas
       Vocational Training Center
       Graveyard
       Complete Utilities (Electric, Water, Sewerage)
       25ft wide Streets and Footpaths

Malik Riaz Hussein said Bahria Town’s Modern Village is a step towards the fulfillment of his dream of providing all the modern facilities of life to the impoverished and flood affected areas of Pakistan. Similar Modern Villages are being constructed in other 2010 flood stricken areas as promised by him earlier during an interview with CNN (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9gaYPacLsv8). Along with improving the quality of life, Modern Villages will provide vocational training and employment opportunities to the locals.
