50 Million Paid for immediate flood relief to Punjab Government

In line with his commitment, declared in an interview with CNN International, where Malik Riaz Hussain, Chairman Bahria Town pledged 75% of his wealth for the flood victims, has donated Rs. 50 Million to the Punjab Government for the immediate flood relief. This will supplement the current ongoing relief efforts already underway by Bahria Town which includes the establishment of medical camps, providing hot meals to over 150,000 people daily and supplying tents, water, hygiene kits, food utensils to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwah, Gilgit Balistan, Sindh and Punjab provinces.

 

When contacted, Malik Riaz stated “Those who have been blessed with extraordinary wealth have an opportunity, some would say a responsibility – we consider it a privilege – to give back to our communities”.

 

To meet objectives effectively, Bahria Town is working on Relief, Reconstruction and Rehabilitation into model communities. These communities will consist of cluster of 500 houses, 5 marla 2 bed each with shelter for livestock with complete infrastructure and amenities including electricity, sewerage, 12 feet set back and 8 feet Paved road, water supply, primary school, community centre, mosque, commercial Shops and a small hospital. The model villages will be built in phases throughout Pakistan and will play a major role in the rehabilitation of the IDP’s.
